Processing of Timber

Only selected boards that have been seasoned for years in the open are used for the construction of a Blüthner. Staple rails between the layers allow the air to circulate freely thus assuring even maturing.

1. The seasoned timber is cut into strips to take out the inner tension. It is then glued together again to serve as surfaces. 2. All parts are made in the Blüthner factory to ensure the special quality of the instrument. 3. The timber is seasoned in a computer-controlled kiln to a final moisture content of 8%. This slow and careful process ensures the intactness of the cell membranes in the timber necessary to allow the fast transmission of vibrations.
