| 1. The openings for the tuning pins are first plugged with hard wood dowels . Then holes are drilled into the wrest plank which are somewhat smaller in diameter that the wrest pins for a tight fit. |
2. Before putting on the strings the height of the back pads has to be adjusted and their position checked. |
3. The pressure bar of an upright is adjusted to warrant the precise down pressure on the strings. |
| 4. The wrest pins are driven in by hand and glide accurately into the predrilled holes. |
