Stringing
1. The openings for the tuning pins are first plugged with hard wood dowels . Then holes are drilled into the wrest plank which are somewhat smaller in diameter that the wrest pins for a tight fit. 2. Before putting on the strings the height of the back pads has to be adjusted and their position checked. 3. The pressure bar of an upright is adjusted to warrant the precise down pressure on the strings.

4. The wrest pins are driven in by hand and glide accurately into the predrilled holes.
